Take Your Skills Further
Already completed our Introductory Archery Class and ready to take the next step? Our Intermediate Archery Classes in NYC are designed to help you improve your technique, consistency, and confidence while also building a deeper understanding of archery equipment.
We offer four separate Intermediate Classes, each focused on a specific bow style: Target Recurve, Compound, Barebow/Traditional, or Horsebow. Archers choose one style when booking and spend the class refining their shooting form and consistency while also learning how their equipment is set up and why it behaves the way it does. This focused approach helps build stronger fundamentals, clearer feedback in your shooting, and a better understanding of the gear you’re using as you continue to progress and prepares you for the transition toward choosing and eventually owning your own equipment.
Who This Is For:
Intermediate Classes are perfect for archers who have the basics down and want to shoot with intention. Whether your next goal is better accuracy, joining a league, or exploring more advanced equipment and accessories, this class is built to help you get there.
Available Styles:
- Target Recurve
Also known as Olympic Recurve, this class is ideal for archers looking to improve their skills with a modern recurve bow using a sight. Instruction focuses on more advanced form concepts and developing a consistent, repeatable shot routine. We also discuss equipment selection to help match bows and accessories to each archer’s goals. If you’re interested in competition or considering joining a Gotham Archery League, this class is a great next step. - Traditional/Barebow
If you prefer a more old-school approach to archery—or simply don’t enjoy shooting with a sight—this class is for you. The Traditional/Barebow class explores several methods of shooting without a sight and highlights key differences between traditional wooden bows and modern aluminum barebow setups. This class emphasizes feel, alignment, and adaptability while refining consistency and control. - Compound
Our Compound class focuses on the fundamentals of shooting a compound bow, including the transition from finger release to using a mechanical release aid. We’ll cover the core characteristics of both target and hunting compound setups and explain how compound bows achieve speed, power, and precision. If you’re looking for maximum accuracy with modern technology, this class is an excellent introduction. - Horsebow
If you’re drawn to archery in its most traditional form, the Horsebow class offers a unique and immersive experience. This style emphasizes instinctive shooting and fluid movement, focusing more on the art of archery than competitive structure. Historically used by cultures such as the Mongols and Ottomans, the horsebow represents one of the oldest archery traditions in the world. In this class, we explore proper form and draw techniques while practicing safely and purely for recreational shooting.
