A structured, beginner-only league at our Gowanus range

SHOOT REGULARLY. BUILD REAL SKILLS. IN A BEGINNER-FRIENDLY LEAGUE.

The Brooklyn Beginner Archery League gives new archers a structured place to shoot regularly without the pressure of owning gear or competing against experienced archers. All equipment is provided at our Gowanus range – just show up and shoot.

Every session builds on the last. You’ll develop consistency, learn what good form actually feels like, and do it all alongside a small group of archers at the same stage as you.

To join, you’ll need to have completed an Introductory Archery Class at either our Brooklyn or Manhattan location. That’s the only prerequisite.

League at a glance

Skill level: Beginners only · rental equipment required
Bow types: Beginner recurve, barebow or compound (provided by Gotham Archery)
Format: 30 arrows at 10 yards
Day & time: Sundays, 6:00–8:00 pm
Spots available: 18 archers (first come, first served)
Duration: 8 weeks total
Price: $35 per session includes equipment · $5/session goes into the prize pot
Prizes: Cash prizes for the top 3 teams
Vibe: Fun, social, and low-pressure

This league was built for archers who:


  • Took an intro class and want to keep the momentum going
  • Aren't ready to invest in equipment but want to shoot consistently
  • Learn better with structure and a regular schedule
  • Want to be part of a small, low-key group rather than a large open range night

No prior league experience is required.


How this league works


  • You'll shoot weekly with the same small group - 18 archers max - so the environment stays familiar and low-pressure
  • The first two weeks are used to establish a handicap, so the competition stays fair
  • Scoring begins in Week 3
  • League shooting focuses on consistency, fundamentals, and improvement

The Brooklyn Beginner League is a starting point, not a ceiling. Once you've built a foundation, there's a clear path forward from here. Members are encouraged to:


  • Take Intermediate Classes to refine form and learn more about equipment
  • Explore different bow styles and setups
  • Transition into owning personal equipment when ready
