Compound Bow

Look for:

  • Wheel-like/turny things at the top and bottom
  • A little cord tied to the middle of the string (far right string in top picture)
  • There is typically a sight attached to the middle
  • Color is usually a flavor of camouflage or black. If it's a shiny orange, blue, green, etc. it may possibly be a "Target Compound" (as opposed to a "Hunting Compound"
  • If there are long (couple of feet long) antennae-like attachments to the middle, most likely you are looking at a "Target" compound

Look for:

  • The middle is typically made of aluminum/metal
  • The limbs (arm things at the top and bottom) usually have very bold branding
  • Accessories typically include a long (a couple of feet) rod / antennae-like attachments in the middle
  • There is typically a sight attached to the middle

Longbow

Traditional LONGBOW

Look for:

  • Typically made of wood
  • Usually does not have prominent/loud branding
  • One piece / simple design
  • May have little puffy-balls attached to the string

Look for:

  • Typically made of wood (though some may have a metallic "center" piece
  • Usually does not have prominent/loud branding
  • May have little puffy-balls attached to the string
  • Typically does not have an "accessories" attached to the bow; when they are, usually they are "screwed" into the wood
